Margie Moran-Floirendo brought great honor to the Philippines after winning the Miss Universe 1973 crown in Athens, Greece.  She later obtained her Master’s Degree from the University of London.  She also put her skills and studies to good use in managing several successful business ventures.  She has since become known for her social and civic works as a national leader on promoting peace and livelihood projects in Mindanao.  She is the President of Ballet Philippines, the country’s flagship ballet company in residence at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.  She is a trustee of various civic and environmental organizations, and an advisory member of World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
