Joel F. Jacinto was recently appointed by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to the Board of Public Works Commission for the City of L.A.  Since 1991, Jacinto had served as Executive Director of Search To Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), the largest-community based organization of its kind in the country. He was instrumental in the designation of the Historic Filipinotown district.  Recently, Mayor Garcetti also appointed Mr. Jacinto to serve on the Affordable Housing Commission.  Complementing his work in social services, Mr. Jacinto is a long-time arts and cultural practitioner, having co-founded Kayamanan Ng Lahi, a Filipino folk arts organization.
